At a very recent setting… between two poets… a dialogue… focusing on universal peace, poetry and interfaith harmony.
Dr. Shihab Ghanem and Geeta Chhabra’s association goes back to the time when Dr. Shihab Ghanem translated into the Arabic language Geeta Chhabra’s poems in English – which was internationally published into a bilingual volume: An Indian Ode To The Emirates in 2012.

The association goes back to many years of friendship…

At a special event, Dr. Shihab Ghanem with his sons Waddah & Wajid. Waddah received that evening Rashid Award for Scientific Excellence in 2008. He is to receive an award again this year for obtaining a Doctorate Degree.


Dr. Shihab Ghanem with his (late) father – the prominent poet Dr. Muhammad Abduh Ghanem C.B.E., who was the first university graduate in the Arabian Peninsula and the first professor in Yemen. The photo was taken in the mid 1980s.


Dr. Shihab Ghanem’s maternal grandfather - Mohammed Ali Lokman (1898-1966). He was a lawyer, journalist, novelist and a renaissance man with personal connections with freedom fighting leaders such as Mahatma Gandhi.


Dr. Shihab Ghanem’s paternal grandfather – (Syed) Abduh Ghanem Al-Haashmi (1883-1956). He was a businessman, a member of the Legislative Council, and first president of the Arab Reform Club in Tawahi, Aden.
