Hope

You must not lose faith in humanity.  Humanity is an ocean; if a few drops of the ocean are dirty, the ocean does not become dirty.
- Mahatma Gandhi

It’s hoped that one day,
It will be all quiet and beautiful.
It’s hoped that one day,
No mother will have to hear
The burst of machineguns.
No child will be denied his childhood.
It’s hoped that one day,
In the streets, the byways,
At the temple doorways,
In the churches, mosques, synagogues –
People will finally be drawn to:
One God.
It’s hoped that one day,
Our human race will train together
To assert the passion for co-existence.
It’s hoped that one day,
No soul will remain hungry.
It’s hoped that one day,
We will share our granaries
To erase starvation and disease.
It is hoped that one day,
We will yearn to become seekers of truth.
It’s hoped that one day,
It will be all quiet and beautiful.
