Book Launch of: The World Is Yours to Change by Dr. Daisaku Ikeda

The bilingual invitation (English/Arabic) came to me through my friend and mentor, Dr. Shihab Ghanem, the eminent Emirati poet and translator. The card was delivered at my residence by a person whose voice contained genuine warmth and placidity on the phone to get the directions.

Nothing less than excellent! This is how I will describe the event which launched the Arabic edition of Dr. Daisaku Ikeda’s book: The World Is Yours To Change. It was an affair where I had no wish to see my watch ticking. It was a show where no event management company was employed. I believe, the merit of perfection excelled because the occasion in all respects was built on the principles of Dr. Daisaku Ikeda’s learnt-philosophy. Next, all those who are learning and practicing what the author has majorly grasped as a seeker of truth: these faithful followers of Soka Gakkai International (Gulf) had a full command of the scene supervising the details of the event – like veteran specialists.

Born in Japan, President of Soka Gakkai International, Dr. Daisaku Ikeda is a prolific writer and a poet, who is recognized as one of the leading interpreters of Buddhism and a peace activist. Soka Gakkai, which literally means value creating society, was founded in 1930 and now with its far reaching association in 80 constituent organizations has a membership of 12 million in 192 countries and territories. Dr. Daisaku Ikeda has written more than 100 books, including The Human Revolution; The New Human Revolution, Global Civilization. The present book covers in its chapters the spirit of Mahatma Gandhi, Jesus Christ, Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). The author staunchly believes in ‘universal love’ and appeals to each of us to do our bit in building ourselves and our societies on the doctrine of global brotherhood.

On behalf of Dr. Daisaku Ikeda, Dr. Akash Keiji Ouchi who is based in New Delhi, India, was present for the ceremony of the book launch. Rakesh Tharoor is the General Director of Soka Gakkai International (Gulf) under whose leadership the book launch drew a meaningful morning – for an auditorium which was wholly packed with keen listeners.
