Book Review: The Journey Home by Radhanath Swami

The Journey Home by Radhanath Swami is the autobiography of an American swami who finds India to be the abode of his enlightenment and salvation.  The book is truly extraordinary, especially, for those who are in search of enlightenment and salvation!  Personally, I found Radhanath’s journey… not only a story of spiritual pilgrimage… I found it as an inspiring experience for my own soul.  The book answered some of my own queries.

The Journey Home reveals the hardships Radhanath had to endure before he was able to find the path… his own path to discover God in all His manifestations.  The reader gets an incredible insight through the American swami – as he opens the windows of ‘Bharat Darshan’ by describing India’s different territories which he covered during his quest.

The American swami’s ordeal lasted for more than a year before he found his roots. Through his travels, one discovers the mysteries and miracles of the mystics.  The author shares his experiences by giving vivid descriptions, and is gifted with a genuine style of writing.

Yes, Radhanath has an inborn flair to be a writer who is skilled, sincere in offering narration… splendid narration of the Himalayan landscape and caves, pilgrim-places in India and Nepal.

Adopting a self-inflicted way of intense austerity, sleeping under the skies during extreme summer-winter days, wandering from pillar to post in search of his guru – Radhanath, finally, seems to have found what he was looking for… for his soul’s salvation.
