The Playing Act

It’s just a human thing, I was told,
Keep in mind the needs of different people.
Turn to silence,
When you hear of harlots,
Perfidious wives and unfaithful husbands.
The more you will talk, the more
You will burn away,
I was told.

I was told,
Keep in mind the needs of different people.
From all the rest, someone might easily possess,
The hunger of turning his steno-typists into unseen
Playful whores.
And then, down and there,
Discard ‘those bitches’ as left-overs.
It’s just a human thing, I was told.

Out of all this, for one thing or another:
None of ‘them’ will hardly pierce
Their sleeping conscience.
Harlots will look lively, as ever.
Cheating spouses will roll on like stones,
On dangerous ledges somewhere else…
Detached, attached here and there.
It’s just a human thing, I am told.
