CHEERS! WISTA

As a WISTA member, I shared the leisurely afternoon of 8th December 2011 with a composite group of WISTA members and non-members, at Hamriya port, Dubai. In terms of knowledge, hospitality: the elements came continually to us. Captain Vivek Bali – Managing Director, Al Mubarak Overseas, made us into subtle thinkers to ask him quite a few questions, during his power-point presentation on marine construction, repairs, and accidents. Later, we were on board the vessels: Al Amlaq and Badr. Ms. Miranda Strawbridge Dockerty, Marketing Manager, Mubarak Marine had completed every detail to make the occasion ideal. In fact, primarily, as a WISTA member, she played the pivotal role in organizing the afternoon.

Once on board, wherever I turned I saw fresh evidence of my memory’s lane. My heart visited those times when as a supernumerary I had sailed with my husband, soon after getting married. That’s a long time back – but the sea, the blue skies and then the horizon taking on the tingles of orange and soft greys collected all the things that live in my heart almost eternally. Later, ashore, we ladies enjoyed a lively spell of chit-chat as we sipped our drinks in a hotel. Vandana Jaitly, Director of Cleghorn, Wilton & Associates Ltd. was the host.
