What A Find!

The discovery of the oldest pearl took place in Umm Al Quwain, (U.A.E.) – Gulf News of 9th June 2012, reported. The newly discovered pearl with other pearls was found along the south western shores of the Arabian Peninsula. It was tested by Carbon 14 and dates to 5500 BC. This establishes the pearl, the oldest in the history of human kind, making its age as 7,500 years old. Historian say that in old societies of Arab Gulf, natural pearls were of great importance as they were a part of many rituals, including, funeral rituals.
