Vedas are composed in Vedic Sanskrit, the texts constitute the oldest layer of Sanskrit.

Vedas are regarded as "authorless" – there were many sages who must have contributed without putting their seal on the compositions.

Vedas are also called "sruti", meaning – what is heard, literature.

Vedas are Hindu texts which were composed orally, then memorized and transmitted orally from one generation to next.
