'World Association of Eye Hospitals' celebrated World Sight Day 2014 in Dubai with a special conference focusing in the future of eye care. The World Association of Eye Hospitals (WAEH) is the global network of eye hospitals and centres of excellence for ophthalmology, which comprise 17 eye hospitals (including Moorfields Eye Hospital) and nine associate members from all around the world.
The WAEH conference was attended by more that 35 senior representatives from 14 international intuitions, who were joined by a group of invited local institutions. The conference focused on the future of eye car.
Dr. Hussain Abdelrahman Al Rand, Assistant Undersecretary for Health Centers and Clinics, Ministry of health, UAE, was the guest of honour at the WAEH conference opening ceremony on October 9th at the MBR-AMC, attended by a senior delegation of VIP guests, including Mr. Marwan Abedin, CEO of Dubai Healthcare City.
Among the delegates, Mr. John Pelly, chief executive of Moorfields Eye Hospital London, and board member of the WAEH, Mr. Mariano Gonzalez, Managing Director of Moorfields Eye Hospital Dubai, and Dr. Kees Sol, Chairman of the WAEH interacted on the significance of World Sight Day.
